Hey! I'm Denis!
A music-, anime-loving Russian game designer born in Japan and (currently) based in the Netherlands!
...That's probably a lot to take in, isn't it?
Let's dissect that sentence one step at a time!
First things first, I'm a TCK! (Third Culture Kid)
I'm Russian, but I was born in Japan. I also lived in The United States! I moved to the Netherlands for university, and now I'm looking for a job!
Being raised as a TCK shaped me into becoming open-minded of other people's cultures and helped me connect with people from all over the world!
Next, I'm a fan of video games (go figure, right?)
Being born and raised in Japan, I was introduced to the magical world of video games at a very young age! I'm a massive fan of JRPGs as well as anything developed by Nintendo.
I'm highly motivated to play (and make) games that strike a balance between an engaging narrative with fun, creative gameplay.
Oh! And a great soundtrack MUST exist because...
I LOVE Music!
It is so rare for you to find me without my headphones because I'm always either listening to music, or I'm making music, myself!
Fun Fact: Porter Robinson, my favorite artist of all time (made the top row's albums), and his music pushed me to realize my dream of being a game designer.
Finally, I'm an anime fan!
In addition to being raised with video games in Japan, anime plays a massive role in my life. So much so that I take inspiration from anime into my music and games!
My taste is all over the place, but I gravitate towards works that are heartfelt and vulnerable. To me, when a creative pours their soul into their work, that's when the work becomes a masterpiece.
Hard Skills
Soft Skills
I'm known to be:
1. Easy to talk to. thanks to my TCK background
2. Reliable through my punctuality as I avoid being late like the plague
3. A leader that colleagues find dependable and amicable
4. Driven to give my all for a project that I am passionate for!
5. A designer's intuition - my experience playing and making games makes me easily determine whether a game that is in development will be fun or not
My Dream
Do you remember a time where you played a video game so great, that you couldn't put the controller down? That you felt the purest, most innocent form of joy from playing it?
That's what I want to do. My dream is to learn how to make those games as a designer so that I can create that joy for players.
My monogram is a cherry blossom to represent my wish to create fresh games in the industry that bring back the focus on fun gameplay with beautiful music. I want to entertain this world and touch people's hearts!
